Not strictly vegan ? No worries ! Pt.2
I usually don’t go for restaurant chains, especially when it comes after a lot of tiredness and little time. However, when I was in Zurich I was told to go and try Tibits and I liked it so much that I visited also in London ! With a huge variety of options, Tibits focuses on vegan and vegetarian food by using exclusively organic products. For those avoiding gluten, dairy, are allergic to nuts and more it’s a place like home ! About 80% of the options are vegan, while every Tuerday the buffer is strictly vegan !
Tibits in Zurich
So my first time in Tibits was in Zurich. Knowing the city and its prices, I was pretty condensed with my choices. On the other hand, I was completely satisfied with everything I got !
I started with the Egyptian Koshari, a comfort bowl with lentins, cheakpeas, rice, a slightly spicy tomato sauce and crispy onions. My love for ethnic food was for once more justified ! Its looks definitely doesn’t do justice to its taste. With very humble and simple ingredients, my palate enjoyed every single bite ! I also chose a bit from the palak paneer. By changing the cheese with tofu and with the intense flavor of the spinach, I was excited I had found this Indian classic in its vegan version ! Finally, I couldn’t resist to the gnocchi with sprinkle and olive oil. For those who love gnocchi, I recommend it unreservedly ! With nice company and not huge appetite, Tibits in Zurich is for sure a very good destination !
Tibits in London
In zone 1 of the city of London, very close to Tate Modern and Jerwood Space one can find the British Tibits. In a suitable place for a plant based meal after a touristic, artistic sally ! During the period I tried Tibits in London, I had become obsessed with salads. I got lucky for seeing that there were so many unusual ones !
My first choice was a salad with watermelon and tofu ! Right away, I had this image with the watermelon, the feta cheese, the sea and the summer. While trying it, I got all the freshness of the fruit, in combination with the sliced in cubes tofu and the mint which made it a totally fresh dish. I also tried a salad with parsley roots, a variety of vegetables, melted potato crumble and tempeh chips. Just by its description I couldn’t help but trying it ! All the above together with a little bit of agave syrup and apple vinegar composed a rare dish, which whoever tried was having trouble understanding how such a big variety of ingredients can constitute such a particular tasty salad !
For the last one, I left my favorite of the three. A salad with papaya, beans, carrots and cherry tomatoes. To whoever loves exotic fruits in salads, I promise them that they won’t be disappointed by this one ! This feeling of freshness and the feast of colors cannot help but causing a wellness to whoever tries it !
After such a healthy meal, I had to reward myself of course with a dessert. I tried a piece of the raw chocolate cheesecake. Its base was made out of walnuts, fresh dates and buckwheat while its upper part was a filling of cacao, cashews, banana and agave. I usually think that vegan and especially raw vegan desserts are not as tasty as the normal ones, but every time I give them a chance they belie me !
As long as we are open to experiment with our tastes the more we can be surprised and enjoy recipes which we would never expect to love ! Tibits is certainly a suitable place to do this !
