London calls!!!
Who said that vegans can’t enjoy an evening with delightful fast food ? London is one of the most ideal destinations for anyone who wants to taste the vegan, ‘’dirty’’ food and make sure that also vegans can have fun !
In my latest visit so far in London, I had two goals : to visit Temple of Seitan in Hackney and the newcomer from the U.S. by Chloe. Definitely, none of the two let me down !
In Hackney, my favorite area in my favorite city, in a very small place you can find the Temple of Seitan. Seitan is wheat gluten, rich in protein and a substitute of meat in both taste and texture. With nothing more than an area for the fryers, the baking plates and two pub-like benches outside, Temple of Seitan is always full and is high on demand.
For those who enjoy spice burgers, the temple spicy burger is ideal. With spicy peppers, juicy burger and an abundance of vegan mayonnaise, it will take a long time to forget about it ! And of course I shouldn’t forget their ‘’chicken wings’’. A generous portion with ‘’wings’’ made out of seitan, dipped into vegan buffalo sauce. Crispy on the outside and delightfully baked on the inside. We may feel some guilt while leaving the Temple of Seitan, but when we are there we definitely enjoy it !
It started in the U.S. and it became a haunt right away, a meeting point of all ages and accessible to not only vegans. The by Chloe, aims on sharing the vegan and plant based philosophy with the whole world ! Walking next to the most famous musical theatres and the fancy cafes, I came across this fast-food restaurant. My first positive impressions were the very friendly atmosphere, the smiling staff and the trendy-pop decoration (it’s worth mentioning that part of the staff were people with special needs who were making sure that the restaurant was clean and the customers happy. I hope we will soon see also Greek businessmen/businesswomen taking that kind of decisions).
I chose the ‘’fish’’ and chips, made out of crispy tofu ,‘’tartar’’ sauce and seaweed which reminded me of a salty fish. I was curious for this experiment, but it was indeed like I was eating the classic English choice in its vegan edition ! I also got the classic burger, with tempeh burger (soya beans slightly cooked and fermented), lentils, chia seeds and walnuts, pickles, onions and sauce in a bun made out of potato. A sober vegan burger ! While the options on the menu scream fast-food, at by Chloe one can take their time, eat like in a proper restaurant and enjoy vegan and plant based food made with love and served with big
